Vivienne climbs Kilimanjaro! |
Congratulations to Vivienne and Cleona who have completed the climb of Kilimanjaro and raised funds for LSI.
I have always said I would like to climb Kilimanjaro before I was 50. And now it is fast approaching, March 2008.
I was diagnosed of having stage 3 b Hodgkins Disease in 1974 at the age of 16. I had two and a half years of Chemo and survived the treatment even though it was worse than the disease.
Time moved on and I have had a very healthy life since.
One afternoon recently I was driving home from work and I heard an advertisement on the radio for a trip to Kilimanjaro and I thought - I would love to do ithat. That night, I was looking into it on the internet and my daughter Cleona walked in and said, 'who is doing Kilimanjaro?'. I said I was thinking about it and she said she would love to do it also. So we checked it out and it was doable!

We contacted LSI to see if we could do it for their charity. Isobel was very keen. We talked the talk about walking the walk but took it no further.
I went to the AGM of LSI and I was talking to a man I now call the Mayo man. I was taking photos and he asked me about my camera. He seemed to understand cameras and I asked his advice about a camera to withstand extreme weather conditions, and explained to him I was doing Kilimanjaro.
With that he disappeared and returned with a €50 euro sponsorship for the fund. I was committed!
Anyone interested in running a fundraising event please contact me through the site.
We need your help with fundraising to make this a complete success for LSI, please support us and this worthy cause.
Love and Light, Vivienne
